As you can see.. we needed new bedsides to match, I found these babies marked down from $299 to $99 as there were minor scratches were you couldn't really see them. I bargained the guy down to $90 each and added some new handles, the old ones were ugly. And they match almost perfectly to our bed. Yay.

So I think the email below will sum up perfectly how i feel with PD at the moment. And the issues we have come accross.

Hi (Insert CSC's name),

I am sorry for being a pain, but I am a bit annoyed regarding what we have been origionally told from our sales consultant and what we are being told at contract stage.

I am forwarding through an email origionally sent by *****. The reason I am sending this through is because if you look down to the 3rd last dot point questions that has been asked, you will see that I have asked how much to include a wooden look garage door.

I was advised by ***** this would be included. However i then queried ***** on this at a later stage, as when we recieved our Hopetoun booklet the garage door that came included was not the wooden look garage door. The wooden look garage door by agdoors was an upgrade.

***** called me back to advise me that they no longer use that wooden look door as they have had malfunctions. However having spoken to both companies, they are not aware of any 'malfunctions'.

When we went into hopetoun they advised that the wooden look doors have always been an upgrade and she wasn't aware of why our sales consultant would have told us that it was included.

I feel as though we have been lied to, instead of just told that perhaps ***** has made a mistake. I have however checked with the suppliers of the standard panel masta doors which come included as part of the promotion. They do often a wooden look color called 'Timbergain Caoba'.

Could you please let me know if it's possible at all to get the panelmasta contemporary door in the wooden look color. I feel as though it's the least Porter Davis can do concidoring we have been stuffed around with what is and isn't included or is an upgrade.

If you arnt able to do that, can you let me know what you are able to do to resolve this issue. I also want to query the HIA contract time for completion - building period. Porter Davis advertises a guaranteed 20 week completion. We have been told numourous times it will be 20 weeks. I'm not sure why Porter Davis thinks it's acceptable to increase that to 25 weeks on our contract. It should be 140 days, not 181 days. And then on top of that 140 days you can include your estimates for weather, weekends, public holidays, restered days off and other foreseeable breaks and the christmas days. Can you please let me know when this issue has been resolved.

Last but not least we have the issue of the translucent glass in the standard door. We want to upgrade the glass in the door, not the whole door. I think an acceptable price to upgrade just the glass in the door would be under $100. Not $332. We don't want to upgrade the door, we just want to upgrade the glass.

If you could please let me know how these issues will be resolved, if you are unable to do anything in regards to these things, i'd like you to forward this email through to your superior so that they are aware of these issues and can resolve them for us within our cooling off period of 7 days.

In addition to these issues, we would like to make some variations in the contract:
1) Delete the laundry overhead cupboards - $440 (Item 4 in Cabinets & Appliances Variations)
2) Leave in the 1/2 Linen 1/2 Broom cupboard in contract - $539 (Item 5 in Cabinets & Appliances Variations)
3) Delete the ducted vaccum - $1,564 (Item 3 in Electrical Variations)
4) Delete Rupmus Room Entry Door - $816 (Item 2 in Door & Window Variations)
5) Delete Study Double Doors - $518 (Item 4 in Door & Window Variations)
6) Include Ensuite Vanity drawers 2 sets of 4 drawers - $542
7) Include Additional Power Point in Garage - $??

Could you please let me know when you have recieved this email and what the process will be in regards to resolving the 3 issues we have at this time.

Kindest Regards,

Frustrated Builder

Update..

Last week we had a call from our Broker Bill telling us we'd been formally approved by CBA. I'm not sure if they said unconditionally or conditionally but we were told we were FORMALLY approved. We'd applied 7 working days prior to that day and were happy to hear this. We'd provided all the documents we needed to, including the fully signed land contract.

I called the new person incharge of our finance today Donna and she advised that we HAVE NOT been formally approved, that the banks are actually waiting on a fully signed land contract. (Which i have already provided)

Donna then asked me if Bill told me i was approved told me it was unconditional or conditional? Didn't know there were two types of formal approval.. The rest of our 5% deposit for the land is due in 11 days, but we'll be away for those 11 days on a cruise. Our conveyancer has told us that she won't be giving the rest of the 5% deposit cheque to the land until there is 'formal unconditional approval..' and that she'll organise with the conveyancer while i'm away for an extension on the land contract if we need it while waiting for 'formal approval' that we thought we already had from the bank.

So anyway.. i've since called back Donna, who seems lovely and very helpful. She let me know that it hasn't been formally approved yet, they hadn't recieved our land contract fully signed (even though it was sent!) but she made sure she got another copy from my conveyancer and sent it through to the bank and now its just conditional to the valuation for the land. Hopefully the land valuation will come in at the price we brought it.. or above would be awesome. She also told me she'd email me while i was away, just incase i was able to check my email and be updated. I'm feeling much more assured now. I just wish that the first guy had been a bit more thorough and mentioned it was approved but coniditional on things. Oh well. Live and learn.

We are going to look at National Tiles and Hopetoun tommorrow.. so i'll try and post our color selection pictures when i get home!
